PSC is proud to celebrate our scholars for 2024 in New Zealand. Congratulations to Ben Simons (3rd year) and Treasa Glubb (4th year) on your awards!
PSC has been offering scholarships at the University of Canterbury for over 20 years to support engineering students to complete their studies. In recent years we have also been offering summer student placements and final year projects. Both Ben and Treasa have participated in our summer student program, with a mixture of office based and site work.
Ben had this to say.
“The site visits I went on let me see it all together providing me with the hooks to hang my learning on, which I am grateful for. The generation topic taught in class clicked and was almost intuitive because of my prior experience”.
Treasa Glubb led our final year project this year which was focused on investigating options to re-use and re-cycle home and industrial solar panels and will join PSC as a Graduate Engineer in the next few months. Treasa had this to say about her involvement with PSC.
“My first experience with a professional engineering company at PSC offered a dynamic learning environment that expanded my understanding of the power industry. I had the opportunity to work closely with the Genassure generator testing team, gaining valuable hands-on experience while also being assigned an engaging summer project. These experiences not only enhanced my technical skills but also introduced me to key project management tools, further strengthening my professional development.”
We are looking forward to continuing our relationship with the University of Canterbury and through our involvement with the Power Engineering Excellence Trust developing a relationship with University of Auckland as well.
