Overview

TagEnergy is a clean energy enterprise in the renewable energy industry. Operating in the UK, Australia, Spain, Portugal and France, it was formed in 2019 to accelerate the energy transition by developing and investing in competitive and clean power stations in order to compete directly and actively on the energy markets.

Lakeside Energy Park is a 100MW UK facility in Drax, near Selby, which can provide power to about 30,000 homes a day across England and Wales.

Challenge

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are systems that store energy in batteries for later use. They are used to store excess energy generated from renewable sources such as solar and wind, allowing for the efficient distribution of energy to the electricity grid. BESS plays a crucial role in integrating renewable energy sources into the grid and enabling a more stable and sustainable energy supply.

TagEnergy are clearly masters of their renewables domain, but they recognized the need for electrical grid connection experience and specialist engineering expertise to efficiently connect their power to the grid. They needed trusted consultants to support them through the project which they found in PSC.

Solution

PSC acted as TagEnergy’s consultant providing electric system connection technical and regulatory support during the connection process. PSC provided the following services:

• Supporting and advising the client in compliance meetings with the system operator.
• Managing all connection data including detailed studies and submitting to the system Operator to achieve energization and the export of Power.

Results

TagEnergy has benefitted from PSC’s technical support via a single unchanging point of contact throughout the project’s phases. PSC’s experienced engineers provided a deep and necessary understanding of the UK electrical power system and their new generation facility requirements.
